Chaos has erupted between white and black students at the University of Pretoria. Black students are protesting over the university's language policy.
Security personnel and the police have their hands full trying to separate the two groups consisting of white, pro-Afrikaans students on one side and the majority of the black students on the other side.
The pro-Afrikaans students are chanting that Afrikaans ‘sal bly’, meaning Afrikaans will stay and that is not sitting well with their counterparts on the other side who have sticks.
Academic activities at the university's Hatfield and Groenkloof campuses were suspended on Friday due to the protest.
