Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly won Best Rap Album at the 2016 Grammy awards; much to the pleasure of a certain individual fairly high up in the world.
The album beat out the likes of J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Dr. Dre's Compton, Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint. Lamar's speech saw him thank both his parents and his fiancée, Whitney Alford, while heralding; "This for hip-hop. This for Snoop Dogg Doggystyle, this forIllmatic, this for Nas. We will live forever, believe that."
A win President Barack Obama will surely be overjoyed about; having previously named 'How Much A Dollar Cost' as his favourite song of 2015, and proclaiming To Pimp a Butterfly as the best album of the year.

Obama even met with K-Dot after the artist was invited to the White House as part of his Pay it Forward initiative. And so, unsurprisingly perhaps, the White House Twitter account dropped its own congratulations on his Grammy win, referencing Pay it Forward's aims in the process.

Lamar also counted amongst one of the night's most memorable performances: his jazz-infused take on tracks 'The Blacker the Berry' and 'Alright' delivering a blistering criticism of America's prison industrial complex.
