Miami Doctor Caught on Video Hitting Uber Driver, Screaming Profanities, Tossing His Stuff to the Street. Now She May Pay Dearly for Her Misdeeds.
After a Miami doctor was caught on cellphone video hitting an Uber driver, screaming profanities at him and tossing his belongings from the car, the Jackson Health System placed the fourth-year neurology resident on administrative leave.
Anjali Ramkissoon was ”removed from all clinical duties,” the Miami Herald reported, citing a hospital statement.
“Jackson has launched an internal investigation,” the statement said. “The outcome of the investigation will determine whether any disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including termination.”
The YouTube video of Sunday’s incident in downtown Miami was posted under the user name Juan Cinco and has been viewed more than 1.4 million times as of Friday morning.
According to Cinco’s video description, the woman appeared “out of nowhere” and got into the back seat of the Uber car. “We told the driver it was OK, to just cancel our ride,” Cinco wrote, “but he did not want to take her anywhere so he kept telling her to get out.” She wouldn’t.
After the driver exited the car, saying he was calling police, Cinco wrote that she reached into the front seat, grabbed his keys and began walking away — which is when the video starts.
In the clip, the driver is seen holding her wrists in the street and saying “get some help” while she mocked his threats to call 911.
By the end of the clip she finally exited the car and began walking away — but the driver followed her.
The video description indicated that police arrived shortly afterward as the woman was about to leave in a cab, adding that “they had to stand in front of the taxi and tell him to stop.” She tried to walk away but was placed in handcuffs and even “tried kicking some of the police officers on the scene,” the description reads.
“It was only when they put her in the police car that she started crying, apologizing, and claiming that she would lose her medical license (she claimed to be a neurologist) if she got arrested,” according the video summary.
The description said the Uber driver didn’t press charges and took a cash settlement instead. “It’s safe to safe this girl got off easy,” Cinco concluded.
A police spokeswoman told the Herald that officers responded to the complaint but that no report was taken: “We were called for a disturbance. There was no report written, and there will be no investigation.”
According to Heavy, Uber suspended Ramkissoon’s account while it investigates the incident.
