Lamar Odom will not be facing drug charges after being found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel in October 2015, with cocaine in his system.
It was previously claimed that the 36-year-old basketball star could face charges over being in possession of the drug. Odom could have faced up to four years behind bars, but according to TMZ, Odom will go free.
The site claimed the Nye County District Attorney has decided not to file charges against the sportsman. It’s rare that charges are brought in cases where the person was hospitalised.
TMZ was told the District Attorney is expected to formally reject the case this week.
Odom left hospital earlier this week after a long battle back to health. He relocated to a private rehab facility where he will continue his recovery.
His family is positive about the progress Odom is making.
His aunt, JaNean Mercer, said to US weekly in a statement, “Lamar continues to make remarkable strides and we are asking that you continue to respect our privacy. Again we thank all of you greatly, your support has been paramount in helping to uplift us during these past few difficult months.”
