A 12-YEAR-OLD girl and her older brother (16) stayed in adjacent rooms in an outside building because of the small space in their aunt’s four-roomed house.
They grew up together, even sharing a pee bucket and taking turns to empty it in the morning.
But the two siblings’ tight bond has had a shocking outcome.
Residents of KwaMashu kasi, north of Durban, raged with anger when they heard on Sunday that the girl, who’s still in primary school, is allegedly carrying her brother’s child.
A close source, who cannot be named due to the seriousness of the case, told Daily Sun that the girl’s aunt recently noticed that she had constant morning sickness.
“She had suspicions that her niece was pregnant,” said the source.
“When she confronted her, the girl told her that her brother had often had sex with her since the beginning of this year. She took her to the clinic and it was confirmed that she was indeed pregnant.”
The family discussed the matter and it was then reported to the police.
“According to the victim, the suspect had sex with her over five times.
“She said he would sneak into her bed at night when she woke up to pee in the bucket they shared.
“It’s sad that the young girl’s life has been ruined,” said the source.
A police source, who can’t be named because he’s not authorised to speak to the media, said the suspect handed himself over to the cops immediately after a case had been opened.
KZN police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of rape was opened at KwaMashu Police Station for investigation. He said no arrest had been made at this stage.
