THIS is a sad time for Generations: The Legacy actors.
Most of them allegedly learnt of their fate through rumours or in the media after statements were issued.
The latest victims to be axed by Mfundi Vundla are Kabelo Moalusi and Lebohang Mthunzi, who plays Angela Mogale in the soapie.
Their departures were announced in a statement by Generations : The Legacy last Thursday.
Earlier this year, Asanda Foji learned from Daily Sun that her character would be written off.
Kabelo, who plays Siya Radebe, said that he received an email a week before the statement was released.
“The next thing I knew, I got a call telling me that the statement was out,” said Kabelo.
“I think it could have been handled differently. They should have told me they would be telling everyone so that I could prepare myself. I hadn’t told a lot of people, so some were shocked by the news.
“It’s just a respect thing that I wished I had got.”
Asked how he reacted to the ending of his contract, he said: “I feel sad and disappointed. It’s like any job. It’s never nice losing a job.
“I am going to miss the people I worked with as we developed our own culture there.”
Kabelo said he would be shooting until the end of February.
He said there was life for him after the soapie.
The soapie’s publicist, Gaaratwe Mokhethi, said: “Actors are told through their agents. We don’t communicate directly with them.
“So if they were not told about their contracts being terminated, it was because their agents did not communicate with them.”
