Police on Thursday confirmed sports anchor and radio personality Carmen Reddy had been shot.
Spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said Reddy was injured in a house robbery at her mother's house at Emberfield Valley in Centurion on Wednesday night.
"The complainant alleged she was sitting in the dining room with her children when confronted by four males wearing balaclavas," Huma said, referring to Reddy's mother.
It was alleged Reddy tried to run to the bedroom.
"Unfortunately they shot her on the left arm," Huma said.
The only thing taken from the scene was a cellphone. A case of house robbery was opened.
The Juice reported 5FM DJ Vic Naidoo was also at the house during the incidents as the family and friends were celebrating Diwali.
Reddy is a sports anchor for eNCA and a 5FM news reader.
While 5FM has remained mum on the incident, eNCA said Reddy had been injured in the shoulder and had undergone surgery. It was believed she would make a full recovery.
