Do we know what caused the crash?
Two black boxes have been recovered from the scene and investigators are yet to determine the cause of the crash. Egypt's civil aviation minister Hossam Kamal said there had been no sign of any problems on board the flight and an SOS call hadn’t been made. Yet on the day of the crash, other Egyptian officials had said the pilot had had reported technical difficulties and requested permission to land at the nearest airport before losing contact with air traffic controllers.
