A MYCITI bus and an Audi collided in Table View last night, leaving the driver of the Audi badly injured and causing a traffic jam in the area.
The collision happened at about 7.30pm at the Marine Drive and Otto du Plessis intersection near the Dolphin Beach Hotel.
City spokeswoman Kylie Hatton said: “We believe the vehicle had been crossing over the (MyCiTi) bus lane when it was hit by a bus.”
Traffic authorities continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash this morning. A source said authorities were trying to ascertain whether the car may have tried to do a u-turn or had skipped a red light.
Hatton said last night that nobody in the bus was injured, and that the driver had immediately reported the incident.
The Western Cape Department of Health’s spokesman, Mark van der Heever, said there were no passengers on the bus, and there were two men in the Audi.
“One male sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from the Audi and the other had minor injuries,” he said. “Both patients were transported to Groote Schuur Hospital by ER24.”
