Baroka FC say they do not mind missing out on the chance to play Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, as they will meet the Bucs in the Final anyway.

Baroka made it very clear that they were keen to meet the Mighty Buccaneers in the semis, but were drawn against Black Leopards, while Pirates have a date with Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Baroka striker Thobani Mncwango, who scored the goal that booted Amakhosi out of the Cup, says the team are already looking beyond Leopards.

“We will meet Pirates in the Final,” Mncwango says. “The fact that we have beaten the top two teams in the country has given us confidence that we will go past Leopards and make history, becoming the first team from the Vodacom League to play in the final of such a big tournament.”

“We will approach the game against Leopards the same way we did against both Chiefs and Pirates and will definitely go all the way.”

The Nongoma-born striker, who has already been linked with a move to Pirates, says he still cannot believe he scored a goal past Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

“Even today can’t believe that I scored past the number one goalkeeper in the country,” he grins. “It only became reality when watched the game on TV after returning home.”

“My mother is a big Kaizer Chiefs supporter but she cried with happiness after the game!”

As for the rumoured Bucs move, Mncwango says: “No one has approached me. I am concentrating on taking my team to the Nedbank Cup Final and the First Division next season.”
