In no particular order, here are the coolest grandmas on South African TV.

Mary Twala

Apart from many stage roles, she has also taken part in numerous South African films. She appeared in Sheila's Day in 1993, The Game 1997, SeZaR 2001.

Cynthia Shange

Grandma Cynthia has been in the entertainment industry since her modeling heydays in the 70s, and,  fastforward to the 2017, and she's still relevant.

Lillian Dube

She might be in her 70's but her larger than life attitude and energy could have one thinking she’s a lady still in her late 40's. Our first recollection of gogo Lillian Dube was during her days as Sister Bettina on Soul City and since then her acting career has skyrocketed to greater heights.

Nandi Nyembe

uGogo wama Ninja! Gogo Nandi has also been in the industry for decades yet she still remains to be as relevant as ever.

Ivy Nkutha

Beautiful Gog' Flo from Generations who also acted on Lockdown is also one of our favourite old ladies on screen at the moment.

Lydia Mokgoloshik

Known for her role as Koko Mantsha on SABC 1’s Skeem Saam, Gogo Lydia, with her strict yet hilarious attitude, first appeared on our screens as Mma Nkosheng in the TV 3 series Bophelo ke Semphekgo back in 1990.
She’s also appeared on Muvhango and continues to brighten our screens whenever she appears. We hope to see Gogo Lydia for many more years to come. Talk about legendary talent.

Thembi Nyandeni

She's the most dangerous gogo in TV land, they may have tried to humiliate her with that sex-tape scandal but like a true Phoenix, Gog' Thembi Nyandeni rose from the burning ashes and is still doing impressive work as an actress.
