There have been rumours that the Queen of Gqom, Babes Wodumo might not jet off to the US for the prestigious BET Awards. This is all because her VISA documents were not finalized.
However, DRUM spoke to Mampintsha of West Ink Records where Babes is signed on the matter. He revealed that they are still trying to get the interview date with the US consulate to be pushed for today. “It’s not that she is not going, we are still trying. Even yesterday we were working on it, we didn’t sleep. But it’s the issue of getting someone to sign and we are sent from one person to the next,” he reveals referring further questions to Melody Mhlongo of West Ink Records.
But Melody says people must calm down. “There were a lot of factors that contributed to these delays but I can’t go into details now. We are still trying to get an interview for her and we can’t say she is not going yet,” explains Melody who claims Babes isn’t hurt by this.
The rising star is nominated for the Best International Act: Africa alongside Nasty C and rapper AKA. The acts were supposed to leave for the awards this afternoon and we hope everything is sorted before then
