Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha have apologised for their much-publicised rant. The pair recorded videos where they expressed their dissatisfaction about at the South African Music Awards.
In the video Babes who is also nominated for the Best International Act: Africa at the BET Awards posted on her Twitter account she lambasts the music awards ceremony.
“Everyone saw what happened; it’s the same thing that happened at the Metros, it’s now happening at the SAMAs… It’s obvious that awards are being bought. I was even nominated at the BET Awards overseas, and then at home I don’t even get one award? There’s no such a thing. Also Read: Here is Why Babes Wodumo walked away with dololo at #SAMA23
Don’t play with us, continue buying your awards, continue,” she said. Her sentiments were echoed by Mampintsha who used vulgar to get his massage through. However, the two have sincerely apologised for their unprofessional behaviour at the SAMAs.
“The SAMAs has always evaluated the entire album of an artist to judge their entire body of work. The Record of the Year category is the only category in which a single track is considered and so an artist may have a great single or series of singles but their album may not be better than another artist,” he explained.
