The funeral of the late anti-Apartheid struggle icon Ahmed Kathrada is under way at Westpark Cemetery in Randburg Johannesburg today.
Government officials, his industry peers, family and the media are all in attendance to pay their last respects.
A number of peers and associates took to the podium to speak in honour of the late icon. One of them is Gauteng Premier David Makhura who honoured “Uncle Kathy” in his speech, and with a single quote captured a large portion of what the struggle activist was all about. Makhura said, “Although Uncle Kathy is silent today. He was never silent throughout his life. He led by example.”
