As the season of political rallies continues, more and more artists are being called on to perform at political events. Several artists have spoken out about performing for parties that they do not necessarily support, but perhaps none of them have been as vocal as rapper AKA.
Taking to Twitter in a lengthy rant on Wednesday evening, the Levels rapper shared his political views with his followers, telling them that he has been approached to perform for the DA on several occasions, but has always turned them down. He also revealed that he will never again perform for the EFF.I've turned down every request of the DA to perform at their events. I've even performed at 2 EFF parties. https://t.co/kLpAdueoQi

AKA, who has performed at several ANC events, says that he will continue to support the ANC because his support for the party "is rooted in my ability to build myself a great life during its governance of my country" and believes the party represents the best future for his daughter.Never again. I realized I don't need the money that bad.— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 18, 2016
The ANC is faaaaar from perfect, but I firmly believe it's the only political party with the credentials and policies to lead our country.— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 18, 2016
Remember, I am a father to a young child .... I am thinking about her future and the South Africa she's going to be living in.— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 18, 2016
But don't go crucifying the rapper just yet. He says that his followers are free to support whomever they want, because it's not "Chiefs vs Pirates, bro"
I have no problem with who you vote for ... That's the beauty of our country. We don't have treat politics like Chiefs vs Pirates bro.— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 18, 2016
What I don't fux with is people undoing and undermining decades of hard work and progress in our country.— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 18, 2016
