WHEN Gxabhashe was ousted by Uzalo, his fans demanded him back, saying the telenovela was boring without him.
And the SABC1 number one show brought him back.
But now it’s alleged the well-loved actor, real name Mpumelelo Bhulose, has resigned from Uzalo.
Sources close to Uzalo told Sunday SunGxabhashe will no longer be part of the second season.
One source said everyone was shocked when Gxabhashe broke the news.
“Gxabhashe shocked many when he resigned.
“He told management he had found greener pastures, but didn’t say where he was heading,” said the source.
Another source said the other actors were angry at Gxabhashe.
“They were gossiping that Gxabhashe is doing as he pleases.
“For God’s sake, this guy returned to the show after an outcry by fans. But all of a sudden, he announces his departure,” said the source.
When the SunTeam contacted the popular telenovela actor and pressed him with questions about his future plans, Gxabhashe played his cards close to the chest.
All he was prepared to tell the SunTeam was: “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Uzalo spokeswoman Marang Setshwaelo was also tight-lipped and told the People’s Paper: “In the interest of maintaining the integrity of the storyline, Uzalo doesn’t reveal – in advance – the movement of cast members.”
Since Uzalo started, several actors have left.
These include Thandeka Zulu (who played Nombuso), theatre legend Bheki Mkhwane (Pastor Mdletshe) and Lungelo Madondo (Amandla).
According to rumours, Bonga Dlamini, who plays Mkhonto in the show, has also been booted off Uzalo.
