Sunday Sun has been told Dr Malinga, real name Doctor Malinga, gave his bosses a shaolin kick that sent Kalawa’s executives flying to the roof.
The People’s Paper was also told the reason Dr Malinga of Via Orlando fame, is no longer interested in working with the Kalawa crew, is because he wants to do things his way.
“Dr Malinga is done with Kalawa. He told his bosses he won’t be renewing his contract because he felt he wants to go it alone.
“He owns a record label called Lingas Entertainment and believes it’s time for him to spread his wings and be in control of his talent and career,” said an insider from Kalawa.
Another close friend of the star said Kalawa bosses tried hard to convince him to stay, but he refused because he is now an established brand and doesn’t need guidance any more.
“Dr Malinga became big-headed after realising he can do things on his own, but what we know is many people’s careers crashed after they left companies that had made them.
“He’s really optimistic about his move as he stated that he’ll own everything without anyone interfering.
“He should be careful as Kalawa guys are influential in the industry.
“They can close channels for him because what he did is regarded as burning bridges,” claimed a friend.
This week, Dr Malinga played down the matter and told Sunday Sun: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who told you that? That’s news to me.”
